Hyperhidrosis Overview

  • Primary hyperhidrosis (PH) is caused by the overactivation of sweat glands

  • PH is a highly prevalent medical condition with a significant burden to patients’ Quality of Life (QoL)
    • Estimate that 2-3% of the overall population
    • QoL known to be worse than in some skin conditions, such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis
  • Site of primary hyperhidrosis varies by patient
    • 51% had palmoplantar and axillary hyperhidrosis
    • 30% had palmar and plantar hyperhidrosis
    • 9% have axillary alone
    • 6% had palmoplantar and facial hyperhidrosis
    • 5% had all areas involved
